Island Guardians Project Closing Event
Island Guardians Closing Event
Tomorrow the Island Guardians project will officially close.
However, this website will not!
Not just a press event!
The Island Guardians project was about community, so it would not have been right not to invite the community to celebrate its achievements.
Tomorrow, 10th October, there will of course be a small press event, in the presence of Esplora and Xjenza Malta management and staff and Dr Vesna Kuralt from the Remedies Consortium that funded the project.
But we have also invited our local heroes to attend, as well as Joseph Barbara, who will unveil his artistic installation made out of plastic collected during the clean-ups.
We have also invited schoolchildren from four different schools in our area, to come and discover the project resources. Our youngest guests will enjoy a storytelling activity based on the storybooks we wrote, and somewhat older children will learn lots about marine plastic pollution and how to become island guardians in a tailor-made workshop based on the educational activities designed for the project.
Below is a photo of our science communicators preparing for the workshop!
We look forward to celebrating the project tomorrow and hope there will be many more like it in the near future!
And no worries: this website will continue to be populated and our clean-up map will go on being updated.
So please do continue to share information about your beach and diving clean-ups, seminars and events with us! We’ll be delighted to disseminate!
